A sad time

Friends,

I have the most incredible story to tell in a few days. It involves the kindness of a (former) stranger and I can't wait to share it with you!

Until then, please continue to remember the people of Middle Tennessee in your prayers. The Governor estimates the damage from the flooding to exceed one billion dollars. There have been 20+ deaths.

Finally, my beloved Uncle Charlie passed away suddenly this past Sunday and my family is travelling to Michigan this weekend for the funeral. This picture was taken last year when Uncle Charlie & Aunt Theresa came for a visit. This picture is of him with my cousin Shelia. They were big buddies too, but I was his favorite. Others may dispute that fact, but in my heart, I know it's true.

Another blogger - and practically a friend already (I'll meet her in Astoria, Oregon, in June) lost her father on Sunday: http://flightforthelandride.blogspot.com/2010/05/day-my-father-died.html

As I told her, I don't know the pain of losing a father - though it's generally an inevitable fact that most of us eventually will ... unless the child goes first. But I do know the pain of losing an uncle - multiple times.

And as I told Helen, I hope you find comfort in the fact that your uncle appeared to have lived a long life - that he got to see more years than many have the privilege of seeing - and that he loved and was loved.

As I hope that Helen is able to rejoice and celebrate that - I hope you can, too.

Tricia, I am so sorry you lost your dear Uncle! I too know the feeling of being the "favorite" by an Aunt or Uncle! Have a safe trip! I am originally from Michigan. Hopefully we are all doing our best to help Middle Tennessee now and in the future! People in Tennessee have suffered so much this past week!

I am so sorry to hear you have lost someone dear to you. It's still hard for me every time I talk about my hubby's grandpa who passed last fall. I loved him as if he were my own grandpa....
